Frequently Asked Questions
How long do alterations take?
Alterations services are usually completed within 5 business days. Please allow 2-3 weeks for more complex jobs like wedding gown or dress alterations.
Do you repair leather or specialty fabrics?
Yes. We offer repairs for leather jackets and other specialty materials, depending on the condition and construction of the item. We try our best to repair these items but reccoment you fill out this form or send photos to: customerservice@gibsonscleaners.com
How do I know if something is alterable or worth repairing?
Not every garment should be altered the same way. Our seamstress evaluates fabric, construction, seams, and wear before recommending an alteration or repair so you’re not spending money on something that won’t hold up.
Will alterations change how my garment was originally designed to fit?
Our goal is to preserve the original intent and structure of the garment whenever possible. Alterations are made to improve fit without compromising balance, proportion, or wearability.
Do you repair household items like drapes, bedding, or rugs?
Yes! We do it all! Our seamstress has a breadth of experience repairing household items like bedding and draperies. All rug repairs are taken to our other cleaning facility and take two to three weeks to complete.
Are there items you do not repair or alter?
Yes. We do not offer full suit fabrication. Alterations are limited to the garment’s existing construction, and we cannot significantly resize pieces beyond their original structure. If you’re unsure, our team is happy to assess the item and advise.
Do you repair down coats?
Yes. We repair down coats, including patching tears, replacing zippers, fixing seams, and restoring insulation when possible. We also offer out-of-warranty repairs for select brands, including Moose Knuckles. Bring your coat in or include a note with pickup and delivery so we can assess it properly.
